1. HANDMADE PAPER INSTITUTE, PUNE

 Board’s departmental centre, the Handmade Paper Institute, Pune, has taken up the development of handmade paper in the State with a view to encourage the development of handmade paper and to preserve this traditional village industry in the State.

The Institute carries out the work of development of handmade paper industry through its 3 divisions, i.e., Production Division, Research & Development Division, and Training Division. The Production Division looks after the production of high quality Handmade Paper, Research Division undertakes research to produce Handmade Paper from various types of eco-friendly raw materials, Training Division imparts training of scientific ways in production of handmade paper. This training includes two parts viz.1. Managerial Training and 2. Paper Conversion Training.  The Managerial Training consists of production of paper, marketing  of other allied high quality work concerned with manufacture of handmade paper, the duration of which is one year, whereas Paper Conversion Training consists of preparation of file covers/file boards, note books and binding works.  The duration of this course is three months.  In order to get finance in this sector through KVI, the training from the Handmade Paper Institute is a pre-requisite.

 Research Division made research on various types of raw materials for producing handmade paper, qualitative analysis of various types of paper and carried out analysis of the handmade paper produced by other centres.

 

2. BEE-KEEPING INSTITUTE, MAHABLESHWAR (DIST.SATARA)

The Board has set up a Departmental Centre – Bee-keeping Institute, at Mahabaeshwar, District, Satara, to impart training in bee-keeping to traditional bee-keepers and poor farmers The Centre also undertakes work of supply of bee-boxes, providing technical guidance, establish and supply of new bee-colonies,  production of honey through nursery colonies, research, processing of honey, sale of honey and wax, etc.

The Centre implements following Schemes and Programmes:

  a)     Western Ghat Development Programme

  b)     Central Bee-keeping for Growth of Crop

3. CARPENTRY & BLACKSMITHY WORKSHOP, GOKULSHIRGAON, DIST.KOLHAPUR

The Board has established this Departmental Centre on 10-1-1989 for the development of Carpentry and Blacksmithy Industry.  The Centre undertakes the work of production and sale of Bee-boxes and honey extractors and other equipments required for Bee-keeping Industry and rearing trays and other furniture required for Sericulture Industry. 

The centre is carrying out tests on producing some parts of bee-boxes in fibre and plastic. 

The centre also accepts the work orders for supply of furniture from various Government organisations and carry out the activity on commercial basis.
