Artisans Employment Guarantee Scheme

  3. Loan from District Central Co-operative Banks
OBJECTIVE-
  1. To generate employment for rural artisans. 
  2. To provide financial support.
  3. To provide technical assistance & Marketing Support. 
  4. To mitigate migration of rural population to urban area. 
  5. To uplift standard of living of rural artisans.
PERFORMANCE-

 

ISSUES-

  1. Higher Interest Rates charged by DCC Banks
  2. Reduction in project cost by banks
  3. NABARD Refinance Scheme is not effectively implemented by the DCC Banks
  4. Huge pendency at banks

Under this scheme 294 Block Level Cooperative Societies have been formed of the Traditional Artisans. at present 311 such societies are working. The Member Artisans of these societies are made available the share capital by the State Govt. in the ratio of 1:2. Similarly, they are provided with the Medium Term & Composite Loan by District Central Co-operative Banks under NABARD’s Refinance Scheme at concessional rate of interest. The progress made since last five years under this scheme is as follows :-
